1976: The Day the Colonel Came to Town
In 1975 Ron Graham, a local Kinsmen Club member, worked very hard to bring choral music to the festival. Chic Wray, another Kinsmen, who owned the Moose Jaw Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise (think Burger Cabin here), approached his head office requesting a $10,000 start-up sponsorship. Not only did the company sponsor the event, they also sent the Colonel himself in 1976 to present those first choral awards.
The Colonel came to Moose Jaw and gobbled up what the festival had to offer!
