Our Journey

Starting in 1950 as the Moose Jaw Kinsmen International Band Competition, then in 1976 becoming the Moose Jaw Kinsmen International Band and Choral Festival, this festival has become a part of many a young musician’s experience throughout the prairie provinces.

Known now as the Moose Jaw Band and Choral Festival, we have continued the tradition by providing young musicians the opportunity to improve their musicianship by working with experienced clinicians during an hour long session which includes performance and clinic.

The volunteer committee works tirelessly throughout the year to consistently maintain that vision, keeping the focus on the student. To round out the festival clinics, students are invited to our professional evening concerts, and given an extra performance opportunity at “Moosic in the Park”, a free concert event for both the performers and audience, in the Crescent Park Amphitheatre.
